World Water Day has been celebrated on the 22nd of March every year since its designation by the United Nations General Assembly in 1993. The theme for this year is Water and Sustainable Development.
In a world where 750 million people lack access to safe water and sanitation, this year’s World Water Day aims to highlight the importance of water resources to underpin poverty reduction, economic growth and environmental sustainability.
It is a theme close to our ethos and we work around the world on projects that provide benefits to humans as well as biodiversity – like the sustainable livelihood analysis we did in Nepal and the Metro Colombo Urban Development Project in Sri Lanka.
