Conference in York brings professionals together for stimulating discussion on the value of healthy wetlands
Marie has been in York for the past two days attending the Wetland Futures conference, organised by our parent organisation, WWT.
The conference brought together a wide range of stakeholders including industry, such as aggregates and water companies; landowners and managers; those involved in planning and development; environmental NGOs and others involved in wetland management and conservation. The aim was to highlight the multiple benefits of healthy wetlands in both an urban and rural environment, with presentations and lively debate. Our SuDS for schools project was presented by WWT’s Head of Wetlands for People, Andy Graham, explaining the benefits gained by the schools in terms of educational value as well as improving the quality of water in the local river catchment and providing additional habitat for biodiversity.
