Helping to tackle excess water in playgrounds
Following our successful 2012 SuDS for Schools project in North London, we are currently working in partnership with Northumbrian Water to establish similar schemes in Bishop Auckland, Morpeth and North Shields. Sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) help to reduce the amount of surface water runoff entering the sewage system and can prevent flooding downstream. These schemes will also provide outdoor learning opportunities for school children through a linked educational programme. The scheme at Woodhouse Community Primary School has recently been highlighted in the local news – read the article here. A feature article about this innovative project has also been published by Waterbriefing.org.
