Wetland treatment system under blanket of snow
We made the trip to one of our local clients today to check up on one of our wetland treatment system designs. Lying under a blanket of snow, the wetland treatment system for Bushy Equine Clinic, which has now been operational for around 14 months, was retaining enough heat for the beds to be free flowing. Water quality results have consistently shown excellent treatment in this system, which treats clinical disinfectants as well as wastewater from the toilets, to a sufficient standard for surface discharge.
Despite the fact that the vegetation looks a little sleepy in this winterscape and the wildlife pond was partially frozen over, there was still plenty of evidence that it provides great wildlife habitat, including a number of rabbit and fox footprints in the snow. We even found a mouse that had made a nest in one of the valve chambers – a nice, safe place to keep warm!
