Reedbed creation at Bodenham Lake Nature Reserve
WWT Consulting has been working in collaboration with JPR Environmental in a wetland habitat creation project commissioned by Herefordshire Wildlife Trust. The project aims to create three new areas of reedbed at Bodenham Lake, the largest water body in Herefordshire.
With more than 160 bird species recorded, Bodenham Lake is an important overwintering and breeding area for birds and other aquatic wildlife including Otter. The newly created reedbeds are expected to increase the overall biodiversity of the site.
The project involved a series of site surveys to inform concept and detailed designs for the re-profiling of sections of the lake shoreline to create the new reedbed areas for Herefordshire Wildlife Trust; the habitat developments at Bodenham Lake were reported in a recent episode of the BBC Countryfile program.
