WWT Consulting hold a side event at the Ramsar COP to launch a new urban wetland best practice handbook
Our Associate Directors, Rebecca Woodward and Matthew Simpson, are in Dubai this week attending the 13th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (COP 13) themed “Urban Wetlands for a Sustainable Future”.
At the Conference, WWT Consulting (in partnership with Nanjing University Ecological Research Institute of Changshu) have had the great pleasure of holding a successful side event on planning, design and management of urban wetlands, where the “Good practices handbook for integrating urban development and wetland conservation” was launched.
The handbook has been produced as a result of discussions held at the workshop “Good practices for integrating urban development and wetland conservation” earlier this year and co-hosted by WWT Consulting, which aimed to share best practice examples and ideas on urban wetland design and management; the ideas put forward at the workshop have now been translated into the best practice guidance manual presented yesterday at the Ramsar COP.
The new handbook provides guidance to individuals, businesses, organizations or government involved in the design, planning, management and/or construction of urban wetlands.
We are absolutely delighted to share this new publication showcasing best practice case study examples from around the world, in the hope that the valuable experiences and principles illustrated throughout the handbook will be widely adopted.
