Sustainable livelihoods

Sustainable livelihoods

Wetlands can provide a range of resources and services, maintaining sustainable livelihoods for people around the world.

WWT Consulting works with communities to develop sustainable livelihood approaches to wetland management whilst maintaining the biodiversity of a wetland, thus providing resources for future generations. Sensitive management of wetland ecosystems can provide resources, such as rice, fish, fuelwood, construction material and medicinal plants. These wetland products can be important components of household livelihoods or local businesses.

WWT Consulting offer: stakeholder assessments to determine wetland use and economic reliance on specific livelihoods; ecological assessments to determine species and habitat status; functional assessments to determine the resources and services provided by a wetland; and the development of adaptive management plans to ensure both diverse, sustainable livelihood development and the maintenance of biodiversity.
