We are very pleased to announce that we have finally moved into our new offices; the refurbished Slimbridge hostel (originally a stables block) now houses WWT Consulting, as well as a separate flexible office space for meetings and “hot deskers”.
WWT Consulting will now have a high quality sustainable building to showcase to their clients and to support their ISO14001 certification. ISO14001 is an environmental management system for businesses.
Sustainability has been, of course, at the heart of the refurb and here are some of the main features:
- 16 grid connected solar panels (photovoltaic-PV) on the roof which will generate over 4,000 kWh per year using the sun’s energy. This is roughly equal to the electricity consumption of an average UK house and will save around 1.5 tonnes of carbon emissions a year.
- All the office and meeting room furniture is high quality, refurbished, reused furniture. The floor tiles, recovered from a large office complex, reduce the impacts of new carpet tile production. A floor tile allows worn or damaged tiles to be replaced, a full carpet does not. Tiles are therefore a more durable long term option.
- Water efficient products (toilets, taps and shower head) have been used throughout the building.
- The building is fitted with high levels of insulation (walls and roof) and all lighting is LED, with movement sensors in public areas.
We are all loving our new office space and, for once in a few years, really look forward to the winter!
