This week, Matt has been attending the Society of Wetlands Scientists annual meeting in the US
Matt Simpson is currently attending the Society of Wetland Scientists Annual Meeting in Providence, Rhode Island. The meeting brings together world-leading wetland scientists, researchers, practitioners, policymakers and academics. He is presenting on the work we have done in South America working with Indigenous people to identify and share community owned solutions (Project COBRA) and our wetland restoration project on the River Swilgate near Tewkesbury in the UK. Matt sits on the Europe Chapter, Ramsar Section and Membership Boards so as well as hearing about the latest science regarding wetland restoration, techniques to assess wetland status and loss, climate change impacts on wetlands and the role they play as blue carbon stores, he has attended a series of meetings to discuss how to attract more members and engage decision makers and the wider public in wetland science.
