Interpretation action plan – Our Picturesque Landscape
We are really excited to be working for the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB developing interpretation and habitat recommendations for one of their sites, Wenffrwd, near Llangollen.
The project, funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund, is an addition to the previous work WWT Consulting undertook through the “Our Picturesque Landscape” Landscape Partnership Scheme, producing an interpretation action plan for nine sites within the project.
The Our Picturesque Landscape area is centred on the beautiful Dee Valley, on the border of North East Wales. At its heart is the World Heritage Site of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal, spanning 11 miles of the valley, from Gledrid in Shropshire to the start of the canal in Llangollen.
Wenffrwd, a pocket park, comprises 12 acres of land which is currently closed to the public. Enjoying a privileged location between the canal and river Dee, the area holds great potential to incorporate Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), become an inclusive recreational area for the community and visitors to the wider area, an educational facility, and a gateway to the breath-taking World Heritage Site.
After meeting with the AONB team to discuss their project aspirations (over a few rather scrumptious brownies), we ventured into the site to identify the most suitable areas to develop the team’s ideas, which we very much look forward to mapping into the proposed area during this concept stage.
