Water & Biodiversity – Natural solutions for water security
Tomorrow is the International Day for Biological Diversity and this year the theme is Water & Biodiversity to coincide with the United Nations’ designation of 2013 as the Year of International Water Cooperation.
We are all dependent on fresh water for survival.
How do we ensure access to precious water resources for a growing population whilst ensuring the future protection of the very ecosystems upon which we depend?
Who is responsible for managing water around the world? And how can we manage it more efficiently?
The answers to these questions and much more thought provoking discussion can be found in the Convention on Biological Diversity booklet ‘Natural solutions for water security’ that has been published for tomorrow’s International Day for Biological Diversity. You can download it as a pdf here.
We are very proud to say that we were asked to contribute to it, along with RM Wetlands & Environment, so can thoroughly recommend it!
Take a bit of time tomorrow to consider the biodiversity that you rely on and that relies on you – we can live sustainably with a little more careful thought and recognition of the value that well managed natural ecosystems bring.
