Matt’s back from workshops in the field
Project COBRA, funded by the EU to build capacity across the Guiana Shield region of South America to deal with the issues facing local communities, held a meeting of partners last week in Guyana so Matt was out of touch with the office for a week as he headed into the forest. He got on well with the locals and luckily didn’t have any bother with the one with big teeth below!
The North Rupununi region, on the edge of rainforest/wetland and savanna habitat, includes part of the largest watershed in the world and is extremely biodiverse, including being home to indigenous tribes as well as wildlife. This previous article explains more about the project and our involvement.
Workshops were held last week for local project partners in communication and team building, including training in the use of video recording equipment to enable interviews to be conducted and promotional material to be made by local, indigenous community staff. The Project COBRA website hosts news from the partners.
