Wetland creation at Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society
We are delighted to be working for the Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society (RASS) on the construction of a wetland scheme in their grounds in Banstead.
WWT Consulting was first contracted by RASS in 2014 to provide advice for the creation of a pond at the Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society Headquarters.
Initial field investigations (including ecological and physical surveys) were followed by concept and technical designs for the proposed wetland habitat creation, which features two wildlife ponds connected by a stream channel with wheelchair friendly paths and seating around.
After a successful planning application, earth works have now started (undertaken by Five Rivers Environmental Contracting) and supervised weekly by WWT Consulting.
Project manager Gareth Bradbury, joined by Lord-Lieutenant Michael More-Molyneux, Commander Brian Boxall-Hunt OBE and staff of RASS and Five Rivers, was pleased to witness the beginning of the construction phase on site, which is envisaged to be completed in July 2018.
