New to our website – interrogate the map to see what aerial survey data we hold
We have been conducting aerial surveys since 1995, primarily to record numbers of seabirds but sightings of cetaceans and other marine mammals have also been logged. The data have been used to inform areas for inclusion in marine Special Protected Areas (SPA) and provided ecological information for the development and operation of offshore renewable energy projects.
Now we have collated a summary of all the UK data we hold and you can search for it using a Google map application. Additional layers allow you to view the location of existing wind farms, wind farms under construction and areas that have been approved for planning.
Coming soon … we’ll be adding a downloadable report section so you can read about the results in more detail.
