The management of stormwater to reduce flooding is an increasing problem within new and existing developments.

Conventional drainage often contributes to flooding and water quality problems. The use of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS) not only provides stormwater runoff attenuation, but also treats polluted runoff and provides additional amenity value from surface waters within the urban environment.

WWT Consulting offers a comprehensive design and build service for swales, detention basins, retention ponds and wetland treatment systems which can be used in combination to provide SUDS solutions to our clients. We also offer maintenance and management guidance for systems.

Our expertise in habitat design and management also ensures that SUDS maximise wildlife value opportunities and are not designed as monocultures of grass. As a result, our designs can contribute to local Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) targets. Raising awareness of water issues can also be undertaken within a SUDS scheme so we offer all our clients a comprehensive interpretation service.
