Due to intensive farming practices, there have been problems with soil erosion resulting in soil and fertilisers ending up in the surrounding wetlands and rivers. The local government recognises that change is needed and, during the visit, WWT Consulting provided advice on how to restore the damaged wetlands, improve farming practices and also discussed opportunities for developing wetland tourist facilities to generate income for the region.
