1999 - opened 2006
WWT Consulting undertook a feasibility study in 1999, leading to habitat concept designs and the interpretation plan for the visitor centre.
WWT Consulting then developed detailed designs for creating freshwater marsh, upland stream and mangrove habitats, mangrove boardwalks, trails to three hides, pond dipping areas, and a wetland treatment system to treat the visitor centre’s waste water and for reservoir storage. WWT Consulting assisted with the site supervision of the habitat creation works and advised all landscape and planting contractors.
The Hong Kong Wetland Park opened in 2006 and welcomed over one million visitors in its first year, including national and international tourists.
