WWT Consulting were approached by the Gloucester Heritage Urban Regeneration Company to develop a concept for 9 ha floodplain grassland. Located adjacent to the city of Gloucester, the site has potential to become a gateway to the countryside, providing residents and visitors the ability to walk from the centre of the city into a rural setting within minutes.
Our propsal would see improvement in the quality of existing meadow as well as diversification of the wetland habitats and creation of areas of open water. In addition to the habitat plan and associated path networks, WWT Consulting addressed the need to encourage use of the area by recommending a ‘pocket park’ be developed to draw people across the river, and a series of events that could be held.
