WWT Consulting designed a wetland treatment system for the relocation of West Berkshire Brewery. Wastewater generated from the brewing process, predominantly from drain down and line washing, requires treatment and a bespoke Environmental Permit to allow discharge to ground, as there is no connection to the local sewer or surface water.
The client wanted a sustainable, low carbon solution to their wastewater problem and a wetland treatment system was more suitable than a package plant due to the batch nature of the flow regime, the wastewater constituents and potential expansion of operations.
WWT Consulting provided feasibility studies, process selection and detailed designs. The design of the system allows for future expansion of production. The Environmental Permit is in place and the construction will be complete and fully operational by Summer 2011.
