National Parks and Wildlife Service
County Mayo, Ireland
2008-2009
WWT Consulting worked from concept to installation on the development of the interpretation experience for a new visitor centre at Ballycroy National Park. The centre aims to interpret the natural history, geology, culture and folklore of the area through a 200sqm exhibition gallery with stories arranged by the many habitats that the Park contains. In addition, introductory exhibits in the foyer and a 1.5km external trail with boardwalks, a pond-dipping activity area and associated interpretation are included in the scheme.
The interpretation at the centre, which opened in July 2009, employs a modern mix of large format photographic displays, audio, video, hands-on exhibits and taxidermy.
You can watch a short video of the exhibition build here.
