WWT Consulting was initially commissioned by North Down Borough Council to produce recommendations, in the form of concept designs, for habitat enhancement and recreation. These would aim to fulfil a range of community and planning initiatives for a greenspace area being preserved and enhanced within an ongoing housing development project. The existing site included naturally occurring wetlands, rough grassland and scrub. Designs for improving these existing habitats together with recommended routes for walkways and opportunities for interpretation were suggested.
In 2006, subsequent to the concept design phase, WWT Consulting were commissioned to proceed with the detailed design phase. A report including detailed contour and planting plans together with a targeted management plan was produced. The plans were explained to stakeholders including representatives from the local community early in 2007.
